So I have been MIA lately. Just from the blog. To be honest, it all comes down to motivation, and trying to work out my place in the world. Basically, I think I have been retreating from society over the last few years, and have come to a point where I don't really know where I fit in.

I am sure other stay-at-home-Mum's must go through this sometimes, but at the moment, there are weeks when the only interaction I have with other adults during the day is a wave to other parents at daycare drop off. There are no phone calls or emails to get me through the day. No courses to go to, no meet-ups to keep me going.

Days are filled with driving my son to dancing, daycare, swimming, Cantonese lessons and drama class. On the quiet days we get to do the grocery shopping. I live in an area where I never just bump into people I know down at the shops, so even chance encounters are incredibly rare.

The only thing that I do for myself is sewing. Once again a solitary event. In a room away from little hands.....

I'm a stay-at-home mum, and I get where you're coming from. I hope you're ok.
I've only just started reading your blog, and am enjoying it.

I totally understand what you mean about not talking to people. Sometimes I call my mum to talk rubbish just to get out of kids zone - she always tries to cut the conversation short!

We should catch up at My Hung when my prac teaching is over. That'll give us something to do :)

Hope things are ok. Once James starts school you won't know what hit you.

I'm a stay at home mum too and I found your blog via a Google search on making bunting. I am about to make a whole lot of it for my eldest daughter's upcoming vintage High Tea themed birthday party and like the look of yours very much.

We have no family nearby and our children see grandparents about 1 a year or less even though 1 set live 25 minutes away and the others 40 minutes. There are days when it feels very alone but as the children get older it will improve, you start to help at school and new friends are made very soon.
My youngest is 16 months and I have 3 older kids who all go to school. Playgroup will hopefully have a vacancy for me next year so I can reconnect with mums and dads there.

Thanks for your lovely blog. Jo

Oh wow I think this is something that all stay-at-home mums faces at some stage or another.
I make an effort to do some things in the community that help me to interact with other mums even ona small scale such as going to the library storytime and meeting friends at a park to play.
The kids get the run around they want and I get time in the fresh air to chat with a friend.
This is also a time I find support and a chance to 'compare notes' with a friend.
I joined the kinder committee too Belinda and it has been a great way to meet other parents, other than just the minute or two as you come and go.
Come back to the EB sewing forum! There's always someone there for a chat.
Lots of us come and go and pop in ever now and again.
