Some more Crafting....

Some more pictures.....

A mobile based on a project from a Better Homes and Gardens craft book. It is currently hanging over Layla's change table and is definitely helping with the toddler nappy change squirm......

Another butterfly picture for friends little girl.

And the bag that I made for my sister in law for Christmas. She went away before Christmas so I hadn't quite completed it when she left. It is all done now....

The Long Awaited Update

Hmmm, 2 months since my last post....quite terrible really.

Anyway, I have a couple of pictures to share of things made, etc etc.

1. The little patchwork quilt that I completed earlier this year is now in place in the Moses Basket, ready for our baby girl to be born. Only 6 weeks to go now. Although with the crazy weather we have been having, I doubt she will need anything other than a sheet to cover her at night.

2. Next a little dress that I made for above baby girl using the Oliver + S Swingset Tunic Pattern. I added an extra band at the bottom to make it 'dress length'. This is still awaiting a button or two at the back, it has just been so long since I did a button hole that I have lost confidence!

3. Next, the Amy Butler Birdie Sling Bag.
I love the fabric, but don't love the way the handle attaches to the bag.....maybe I just didn't follow the instructions correctly. Anyone else had any problems with it?

4. James all ready for the Kindy Farm visit at daycare....he actually fed the animals this year. He really is growing up. Although, the way he freaked out at the noise of the water going down the drain after his bath tonight, it makes me wonder sometimes, haha...

I had better leave it at that for now. Next post will include a picture of James' Halloween outfit for daycare. I don't 'get' Halloween at daycare, but I can't let him miss out.

Projects

I thought I had better get some of the things I had been working on before Christmas blogged, otherwise people wouldn't believe that I sew.

Firstly, I wanted to show a picture of the Christmas present that I bought for my sister Mel. She is studying to be a naturopath, so when I saw this pendent I thought it would be perfect for her.

So once I had the pendent, I was looking through my mountains of fabric and found the perfect fabric to make a bag to go with it!!!

And a bag for my Mum. She can't stop raving about it.....but then she does like to talk a lot normally, so maybe it doesn't mean much...

OK, I had better run....I have to pick James up from daycare.

Bag for Baby

This is a bag that I whipped up to give to our friend Amanda for her/her new baby boy Cooper.

We didn't know whether she was having a boy or a girl, so I didn't attempt to make clothes for the big day. But I am sick of buying wrapping paper at the moment, so I thought I would just make a bag to put the presents in.
I used a print from one of my recent Reprodepot purchases, and some medium weight denim. Amanda loved it. We actually visited her in hospital twice, and it turns out she had kept the bag, and a quilt and a little fabric book that my Mum had made at the hospital as they were special presents (all other presents were taken home daily).

For those who have been to the Blue Mountains, you will know that not trip is complete without a visit to the lolly shop in Leura. We went for a Sunday drive yesterday and ended up in Leura. I bought myself a special treat in the form of a Rosy Apple. Unfortunately as soon as James saw it he wanted it. So here is a picture of James with his first Rosy Apple lolly pop. It kept him quiet, that is for sure.

Keep it? Or give as a gift?

Well, I have been sewing for once. I am very happy that I have completed a project, rather than just thinking about it, and wishing it would 'make itself'.

I used one of the books that I got from Corrie and choose one of my Florence Broadhurst fabrics to make large shoulder bag. I added a little mobile pocket and another pocket on the inside (as I am always losing my mobile and keys in big bags). It took me a little time, as I was trying to 'read' the Japanese instructions (no, I don't understand any Japanese). But I finished it last night in record time (considering). I will definitely make more, as I really love the style. However, I may have to choose a different fabric, as the Florence Broadhurst fabric meant that materials alone were close to $40. Not cheap, but I love it anyway.

Not sure if I will keep it, or give it to my sister for her birthday next month...it is OK, I don't think she knows about this blog.

Japanese Goodies

We went off to Kirribilli Markets this morning. We got off the train at Wynyard and walked across the bridge. It is a lovely day, but a little cold in the shade of the Harbour Bridge. By the time we got to the other side, James had stopped protesting about being in the backpack and was starting to get very comfortable - ready to fall asleep.

We had a look around and then stopped by Corrie's stall with her friends. Definitely the best stall there, and very popular too. James took a liking to one of the bags for sale there so we bought it, and he carried it around all morning.

I also picked up my Japanese goodies from Corrie. Take a look at her new shop Retro Mummy.

Pictured below are the books and fabric and cute apple cotton tape from Retro Mummy and the bag from Claudine - she had MANY lovely bags there...I could have bought a few.

And two of my favourite projects from one of the books.

And finally, another picture of James from last weekend at the Aroma festival at The Rocks in Sydney. We found the supplier of the best hot chocolate in Sydney - just like being in Italy! We ALL liked it. If anyone is in the area, come over for a cup!
