Amy Butler meets Signature Prints

I completed my first Amy Butler handbag pattern today. It is the Frenchie Handbag. I am really pleased with how it has turned out - my sister has already asked to borrow it to take to an Engagement party this weekend! Using some of the fabric that I bought from the Signature Prints sale last weekend, and some denim and red lightweight cotton for the lining.

Check out Corrie's blog - RetroMummy - for the Amy Butler patterns!

A Scarf and Some Very Special Fabric

I have finished my crocheted scarf.......I love it. It is so soft, and the colours look great. I had to undo it a few times as I kept losing stitched and then picking them up. I know where I went wrong, but I still have no idea how to correct it for next time. However, I think that once the scarf is sitting around my neck this winter, noone will even notice.

I also have to post pictures of the Signature Prints Florence Broadhurst fabric we picked up at the warehouse sale on the weekend. These fabric are destined for cushion covers (probably later this year), possibly a cover for a pinboard (for the study), and some bag (desperately wanting to use my new Amy Butler patterns from Corrie).

Applehead Yarn

I purchased some woollen yarn from Appleseed
The delivery was quick and I was so excited when I opened the package and found the two skeins of wool - one in Rose Garden, the other in Denim...... along with 2 Small People postcards. Thank you Marianne!
The Rose Garden skein is half way to becoming a crocheted scarf.....

Fabric From Shanghai

We recently took a crazy and eventful trip to Hong Kong and Shanghai. Here is a picture of James and his cheeky behaviour that got him lots of attention while he was away. He really knows how to play people.....

Before we went I found some details about Knitting Yarn Shops in Hong Kong and Silk Shops in Shanghai. Well despite James not really being a shopper, I managed to make it to both!! The results are here,

I am attempting to crochet a little neck warmer with the lovely wool I got from Hong Kong at the moment...

Swaps.....

It has been a while since I posted, that is because it has been a while since I made anything worth posting! Anyway, I have been involved in a couple of swaps with the girls from the Essential Baby sewing group.

Firstly, I received a great bundle of scraps in the Scrap Swap from Tigerfilly.

And secondly, I received a great bundle of sewing supplies from Bec as part of the Valentines Day swap.

Alex's Humpty Dumpty

I just wanted to show you all a little something that Alex (my husband) made for James for Christmas.
It is a Humpty Dumpty doll. He did such a great job with it! I am very proud. He made it without a pattern and just studied the character to work it all out. It was something he had been thinking about for a while, but he only made it up in the two days before Christmas. Well Done Alex!!!

James has New Pants!

Well, I took a bit of time to make James this pair of pants from the Ottobre pattern range, but I am quite happy with the outcome. Alex did not like the look of thm when I was sewing them, but agreed that they looked great when they were on him, worn with a plain navy t-shirt. He looked great.
Sorry the picture isn't great, you can't see any of the detail. But you get the idea....

Secret Santa Pressie!!

In the week before Christmas I received in the mail a present from my Secret Santa Essential Baby Sewing Group swap.
It was a very thoughtful gift from Helen of "boy" prints, anda book for James (which he LOVES by the way). I didn't manage to get a photo of the book...it got snatched off me to put with his other books. But I did get a photo of the fabrics.
Thank You Helen!!!
